   Rose Franklin's Perennials, a mail order nursery, offers many perennial plants that are often difficult to find but are garden worthy and worth the search. On this page we offer several of those plants.

We ship perennials from May through October.
   We are able to ship plants from our mail order nursery to the following states within the USA:  Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. State and Federal regulations prohibit us from shipping to other destinations. If you do not live in one of the states we are permitted to ship to, please do not place an order. We will not ship your order and will charge you a $3.00 service charge to cancel your order and return your payment.

We ship May thru October.   Most of our perennials are shipped in 3" to  4" pots.
A few may be shipped bare root.  Most should bloom this summer.
Unless otherwise noted, the plants on this page prefer full sun.
We ship orders via USPS Priority Mail.

Achillea millefolium 'Cassis', yarrow 'Cassis' Yarrow    (Achillea millefolium 'Cassis' )     

'Cassis' Yarrow produces umbels of cherry-red June thru July. It grows 20" - 28" high, is easy to grow, and also very hardy.  Deer resistant.

Actaea pachypoda 'Misty Blue', White Baneberrry 'Misty Blue' White Baneberry    (Actaea pachypoda 'Misty Blue' )     

A U.S. native, White Baneberry produces white flowers over soft, bluish-green finely cut foliage in late spring. But the spectacular show comes in fall, when white fruit appears on vivid, reddish stems. The fruit has a distinct lack dot, and the fruit persists 4 - 6 weeks into autumn. The tallest stems reach 24"-36" high. 'Misty Blue' White Baneberry prefers well-drained, humus-rich soil and semi-shade to full shade. 'Misty Blue' was discovered at Mt. Cuba Center in Delaware.

Amsonia hubrectii, Arkansas Blue Star, perennial plants Arkansas Blue Star
(Amsonia hubrectii)

Arkansas Blue Star grows 24" - 36" high and produces clusters of small but showy dusty sky blue flowers in May and June. In fall the fine-textured foliage of Amsonia hubrectii turns a rich golden yellow (pictured right).

Angelica pachycarpa Leatherleaf Angelica    (Angelica pachycarpa )     

Native to New Zealand, Leatherleaf Angelica produces spectacular, large white umbels over highly glossy, leathery foliage. Maturing at 36"-48" high, it grows well in full sun or part shade. A showy ornamental! Deer resistant.

Japanese Painted Fern, Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum' Japanese Painted Fern
(Athryium nipponicum 'Pictum')

One of the most colorful ferns, Japanese Painted Fern grows to about 12" high and has grayish-green and silver foliage and reddish colored stems.  Japanese Painted Fern grows best in a location where it is protected from the hot afternoon sun.

Perennial, zones 3-8.            May be available in June.
 

Calamagrostis brachytricha, Korean Feather Reed Grass Korean Feather Reed Grass
(Calamagrostis brachytricha)

Growing 40"-50" high, Korean Feather Reed Grass is easy to grow, quite hardy, and one of the few ornamental grasses that will grow in part shade.. Its showy plumes are attractive September thru November.

'Sheffield' Mum   (Dendranthema 'Sheffield')

'Sheffield' Mums grows 24" - 30" high and yield lots of pale pink daisy-like flowers from late September thru October. Easy to grow. Very hardy.

Gas Plant, Dictamnus fraxinella 'Rubra, alba, mail order perennials Gas Plant
(Dictamnus fraxinella 'Rubra')

A favorite at our mail order nursery, Gas Plant grows to about 36" high and produces beautiful pink flower spikes in late spring. The leaves and flowers have a fragrant lemon scent. Rose Franklin's favorite perennial plant!...and as discovered by Rose, a host plant for Giant Swallowtail butterflies. Probably will not bloom until 2014. Deer resistant.

Dupatoriu coelestinum, Hardy Ageratum Hardy Ageratum  (also known as Mist Flower or Wild Ageratum)
(Eupatorium coelestinum)

Resembling annual Ageratum, this perennial grows 18"-24" high and produces clusters of rich lavender-blue flowers September thru October. A fast spreader that blooms after most plants have passed their prime. Beautiful fall accent plant!

Filipendula rubra 'Venusta', Queen of the Prairie Queen of the Prairie  (Filipendula rubra 'Venusta'')

A tall, stately perennial, maturing at 48"-60"" high, 'Venusta' Queen-of-the-Prairie blooms June thru July. It thrives in rich, moist soils and grows well in full sun or part shade. A U.S. native.

'Pink Panda' Ornamental Strawberry  (Fragaria 'Pink Panda')

Maturing at just 6"-8" high, 'Pink Panda' Ornamental Strawberry blooms May thru July and sometimes produces small edible strawberries. Grows well in full sun or part shade. 'Pink Panda' spreads rapidly via runners so that it can be used as a ground cover.

Avens 'Mrs. Bradshaw'  (Geum chiloense 'Mrs. Bradshaw')

'Mrs. Bradshaw' Avens grows 18"-24" high and produces 2" bright scarlet flowers late May through July. As the flowers fade, they turn orange and yellow. Geranium-like foliage of medium green.

Perennial, zones 5-9.            Sold Out for spring.  More coming in August for fall planting. 
 

Geranium pratense 'Hocus Pocus' 'Hocus Pocus' Cranesbill   (Geranium pratense 'Hocus Pocus')

''Hocus Pocus' Cranesbill grows 18"-24" high and produces an abundance of lavender-blue flowers late May thru June. Its leaves are chocolately purple-black. The dark, deep cut leaves make this plant an attractive accent even when not in bloom.

'Rozanne' Cranesbill   (Geranium 'Rozanne')

''Rozanne' Cranesbill grows 16"-20" high and produces an abundance of violet-blue flowers with distinctive white eyes from June thru August. Its flowers appear above mounds of deep green foliage that spread 24"-30" wide. Easy to grow, long blooming, and deer resistant too.

Gypsophila paniculata 'Snow Flake' Baby's Breath   (Gypsophila paniculata 'Snow Flake')

Baby's Breath grows 30"-36" high and produces clouds of tiny white flowers July thru August. Its flowers appear above mounds of deep green foliage that spread 24"-30" wide. Easy to grow, wonderful as a filler in cut flower arrangement, and deer resistant too.
