   Rose Franklin's Perennials, a mail order nursery, offers many perennial plants that are often difficult to find but are garden worthy and worth the search. On this page we offer several of those plants.

We ship perennials from May through October.
   We are able to ship plants from our mail order nursery to the following states within the USA:  Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. State and Federal regulations prohibit us from shipping to other destinations. If you do not live in one of the states we are permitted to ship to, please do not place an order. We will not ship your order and will charge you a $3.00 service charge to cancel your order and return your payment.

We ship May thru October.   Most of our perennials are shipped in 3" to  4" pots.
A few may be shipped bare root.  Most should bloom this summer.
Unless otherwise noted, the plants on this page prefer full sun.
We ship orders via USPS Priority Mail.

Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen' 'Cerise Queen' Yarrow
(Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen')

'Cerise Queen' Yarrow produces bright pink flower heads and generally blooms June thru July. It grows 24"-30" high and has green ferny foliage. Deer resistant and drought tolerant.

Hollyhock      (Alcea rosea)

Of all the old-fashioned cottage garden flowers, Hollyhock tends to be the favorite. Their stately flower stalks often grow 5' to 6' high and provide a charming vertical accent to the garden. Hollyhocks usually bloom August thru September. While Hollyhocks  are biennial, self-sown seedlings should insure a continuing supply of plants without any effort on the gardener's part. Sorry, no choice of flower color. Deer resistant.

Angelica gigas Angelica gigas

Angelica gigas grows 4' - 6' tall and produces large umbels of wine colored flowers above huge, bold foliage. It generally blooms June thru July. While Angelica is a biennial, self-sown seedlings should assure a continuing supply of plants without any effort on the gardener's part. Deer resistant.

Astilbe 'Bumalda'     (Astilbe arendsii 'Bumalda')

'Bumalda' Astilbe has distinctive reddish-bronze foliage and grows 24" - 28" tall. It blooms June - July and produces pink flower plumes which turn to white. Astilbes prefer shady locations but will tolerate full sun if the soil is kept moist. Deer resistant.

Astilbe 'Erika'     (Astilbe arendsii ''Erika')

'Erika' Astilbe grows to about 32" high and produces flower plumes of a deep pink color. Its reddish foliage remains throughout the season. An early bloomer, 'Erika' generally blooms in May. Astilbes prefer shady locations but will tolerate full sun if the soil is kept moist. Deer resistant.

Japanese Painted Fern, Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum' Japanese Painted Fern
(Athryium nipponicum 'Pictum')

One of the most colorful ferns, Japanese Painted Fern grows to about 12" high and has grayish-green and silver foliage and reddish colored stems.  Japanese Painted Fern grows best in a location where it is protected from the hot afternoon sun.

Baptisia australis, False Indigo False Indigo
(Baptisia australis)

False Indigo grows 36" - 40" high and produces blue sweet pea-like blossoms. Its flower spikes rise above blue-green foliage on gray stems. Usually blooming the month of June, it produces interesting seed pods after flowering. The foliage of this bold plant is beautiful and lush from spring thru late fall. A beautiful perennial that is hard to find.     Deer resistant.

Blackberry Lily
(Belamcanda chinensis)

Blackberry Lily has Iris-like leaves, grows 24"-36" tall, and produces bright orange flowers with darker speckles July thru August. After the flowers fade, seed capsules appear and then later, split open to reveal rows of jet black seeds.

Bleeding Heart
(Dicentra spectabilis)


This old- fashioned, highly popular bleeding heart produces strings of 1" dark pink hearts on tall arching stems. Bleeding Heart generally grows 30"-36" high and blooms late May thru June.
Shipped bare root.  Available only for a few weeks in May.

Gas Plant, Dictamnus fraxinella 'Rubra, alba, mail order perennials Gas Plant
(Dictamnus fraxinella 'Rubra')

A favorite at our mail order nursery, Gas Plant grows to about 36" high and produces beautiful pink flower spikes in late spring. The leaves and flowers have a fragrant lemon scent. Rose Franklin's favorite perennial plant!...and as discovered by Rose, a host plant for Giant Swallowtail butterflies. Probably will not bloom until 2008. Deer resistant.

Robb's Spurge  (Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae)

A great ground cover for soil that is moderately moist to dry, Robb's Spurge produces a thick carpet of evergreen, deep green foliage. Yellow flowers adorn the plant in spring. Grows well in full sun or part shade. Be careful of the white milky sap inside the stems though as it can cause skin and eye irritation. Drought tolerant.

'Borisii' Avens grows to about 12" high and produces 1" bright orange flowers late May through July. Geranium-like foliage of medium green.

Avens 'Mrs. Bradshaw'  (Geum chiloense 'Mrs. Bradshaw')

'Mrs. Bradshaw' Avens grows 18"-24" high and produces 2" bright scarlet flowers late May through July. As the flowers fade, they turn orange and yellow. Geranium-like foliage of medium green.

Fragaria 'Lipstick', Ornamental Strawberry Ornamental Strawberry   ( Fragaria 'Lipstick')

This perennial resembles a strawberry plant (and sometimes even produces tiny edible strawberries) but their flowers are dark pink. They generally bloom May thru June, grow to only about 6" high, and trail across the ground.

Pink Baby's Breath    (Gypsophila paniculata 'Pink Fairy')

'Pink Fairy' Baby's Breath grows 18"-24" high and produces clouds of tiny pink flowers. Often difficult to find at nurseries, pink-flowering Baby's Breath makes a great cut flower. 
A plant I (Rose Franklin) would not be without. I love this particular Baby's Breath!
