Plant Size Info

Little Quick Fire® panicle hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata) is one of the earliest blooming panicle hydrangeas with a compact habit. Blooms persist all summer long, shifting from a creamy white to a deep red in early fall as they age. The flowers aren't the only thing that will change colors! This is one of the only panicle hydrangeas that taken on an excellent fall foliage color as well.

Though not all hydrangeas are very pollinator-friendly, thankfully, Little Quick Fire® is! The lacecap blooms prominently display their nectar-rich florets, which pollinators adore. Since the flowers are not as tightly packed together, it's easy for bees and butterflies to reach the nectar reserves and pollen.

Care & Planting Guide

After your plants have arrived:

The plants in this box have just spent a lot of time being jostled around in the dark and must be unboxed right away. Unpack the entire box, removing packaging material and plants. Remove any plastic covering the pot and/or soil surface and check if the soil is dry. Water anything that is dry or looks wilted. Any plants that have come unpotted during shipping can be replaced in their pots and their roots covered with soil.

Place plants in a cool, shaded spot out of direct sunlight for 24- 48 hours after unpacking them. This allows them a recovery and acclimation period before planting. If you must hold them longer, place them out of direct sunlight, wind, heat, and cold. Check daily for watering.

USDA Hardiness Zones

USDA Hardiness Zones Map

ZONE HARDINESS

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has devised a system to provide gardeners with a basic guide to plant hardiness – how much winter cold a plant can withstand. The Hardiness Zone Map system divides the United States and Canada into numbered zones based on lowest average winter temperature. Even within a zone, different micro-climates exist, such as large urban areas which may be warmer or land situated at different elevations.

WHAT EFFECTS PLANT HARDINESS

The Hardiness Zone Map is a valuable tool but it is not foolproof. There are a variety of factors that can influence the hardiness of a given plant in a garden. These factors include: soil type, drainage, snow cover, exposure to wind, winter, rainfall (or lack of), as well as fluctuations in temperature.

Tiny Quick Fire™ Panicle Hydrangea

The plants arrived quickly and in excellent condition. They continue to thrive. I'm curious to see the shrubs when they have matured a bit to see their ultimate size, the flower size, and the evolution of the flower color throughtout the season. Catriona Tudor Erler

Beautiful Plants/ Little Quick Fire Hydrangeas

I purchased 3 of these 2 years ago and was so pleased, I bought 2 more last year! The foliage is so healthy and the plants are beautiful even when they are not in flower. My original 3 are now 3 feet wide and almost 3 feet tall in just 2 years! I love how when they bloom the color goes from white to pink to red. Fantastic plants!

Arrived Healthy

My little plant arrived in very good shape. It has started to grow a little since I planted it. Will love to see how it gets along for next year's season.

Tiny little shrub!

Plants arrived healthy and are doing well, but it’ll be five years before they look like the picture in the catalogue. I guess I didn’t realize what “one quart container” looked like. Quite expensive for what they are

Hello Carol!
