Plant Size Info

White Pillar® Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) naturally grows in a narrow, upright form, reaching impressive heights of up to 16 feet while maintaining a width of just 2-3 feet. This unique growth habit makes it an excellent choice for lining alongside walls or as a flowering privacy hedge! Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies can’t stay away from the large open flowers filled with nectar and pollen.

White Pillar® is also a powerful bloomer. Starting to show off crisp white semi-double blooms in midsummer that last through fall, White Pillar® erupts in a dazzling display of pure white semi-double blooms. These captivating flowers cascade down the tall stems, creating a mesmerizing waterfall of blooms. Deer tend to avoid Rose of Sharon, leaving you free to enjoy its beauty worry-free. Care & Planting Guide

After your plants have arrived:

The plants in this box have just spent a lot of time being jostled around in the dark and must be unboxed right away. Unpack the entire box, removing packaging material and plants. Remove any plastic covering the pot and/or soil surface and check if the soil is dry. Water anything that is dry or looks wilted. Any plants that have come unpotted during shipping can be replaced in their pots and their roots covered with soil.

Place plants in a cool, shaded spot out of direct sunlight for 24- 48 hours after unpacking them. This allows them a recovery and acclimation period before planting. If you must hold them longer, place them out of direct sunlight, wind, heat, and cold. Check daily for watering.

USDA Hardiness Zones

USDA Hardiness Zones Map

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has devised a system to provide gardeners with a basic guide to plant hardiness – how much winter cold a plant can withstand. The Hardiness Zone Map system divides the United States and Canada into numbered zones based on lowest average winter temperature. Even within a zone, different micro-climates exist, such as large urban areas which may be warmer or land situated at different elevations.

The Hardiness Zone Map is a valuable tool but it is not foolproof. There are a variety of factors that can influence the hardiness of a given plant in a garden. These factors include: soil type, drainage, snow cover, exposure to wind, winter, rainfall (or lack of), as well as fluctuations in temperature.

When you are on a plant page, scroll down until you see the bold "Hardiness" text.

Pillar rose of sheron…

All are dying… follow instructions but they are all dying

We're sorry you're having trouble with your plants. It’s surprisingly normal for newly transplanted plants to appear like they aren’t growing. That’s because most of the growth occurs below ground in their first year as they allocate more energy to root development. Once your plant is established, it will start investing more in shoot and flower development. To learn more about how plants “sleep, creep, and leap”, read our FAQ here: Rest assured, all orders are covered by our 60-day guarantee, so please contact claims@greatgardenplants to start the claims process if necessary. We appreciate your feedback!

I have ordered several things from Great garden plants and are always pleased when they arrive. The plants are packed nicely, very healthy looking and grow very well . They don’t go through a “ shock” stage like some plants do. I highly recommend this company and will be buying from them in the future!

Beautiful and healthy

Has grown and flowered effortlessly so far! It hasn’t put on much height, but I don’t expect it to the first year. It has bloomed beautifully already!
